Charles Darwin - Biography
Biography a Darwin: Life, Scientific Discoveries and Evolutionary TheoryCharles (1809-1882) is one of the most influential figures in the history of science. His work on evolution and natural selection changed our understanding of the world and made a huge contribution to biology. In this biography, we look at the life and scientific achievements of Charles Darwin, as well as his evolutionary theory, which continues to be the foundation of modern biology.
Charles Robert was born on 12 February 1809 in Shropshire, England. He grew up in a middle-class family and developed an interest in nature and the sciences from an early age. His father was a physician and preferred the natural sciences, which probably influenced Charles's interest in biology.
Charles went to the University of Edinburgh where he studied medicine, but his interest in the natural sciences and biology was so strong that he left the medical department. He then attended the University of Cambridge, where he studied biology and natural science.
One of the most important events in Charles's life was his participation in the expedition on the ship "Beagle" (HMS Beagle) in 1831. The expedition lasted five years and provided Darwin with a unique opportunity to study the nature and diversity of living organisms on various continents.
Influenced by observations and collected data during the journey, and after returning to England, Charles began to develop his theory of evolution. His main work, On the Origin of Species, was published in 1859 and became revolutionary for the scientific world.
