Arthur Charles was born on 16 December 1917 in Sri Lanka, at the time still British India. Before becoming a writer, Arthur was a noted scholar and author of non-fiction articles and books. One of Clark's most famous contributions to science was the idea of ​ ​ geostationary orbital communication satellites, which today is used for hundreds of communication satellites.

His novel "2001: A Space Odyssey" became a world bestseller and served as the basis for a joint project with director Stanley Kubrick, which turned into a masterpiece film of the same name.
