Marvell (Andrew Marvell) is a name that remains synonymous with a prominent English poet, writer and political activist. Andrew was born on 31 March 1621 in Kingston upon Hull, in East Yorkshire, England. His father was a priest and scholar, and his mother was the daughter of a priest. The Marvell family was educated and spiritually developed, which had a strong influence on Andrew.

Marvell received his primary education at Grammar School in Golden and later entered the University of Cambridge, where he studied classical and modern literature, as well as philosophy. Education at Cambridge shaped his intellectual interests and inspired his future literary career.
