Andrew Lloyd was born on 22 March 1948 in London, England to a musical family. His mother, Genie Webber, was a pianist, and his father, William Southcombe Webber, worked as a professor of music. From childhood, Andrew showed extraordinary musical abilities and passion for composition.
Already at the age of 9, he began to study at Westminster School, where his talent was noticed and developed. At the age of 14, Andrew wrote his first symphony, and this early experience was just the beginning of his great musical career.
In the late 1960s, Andrew Lloyd Webber began collaborating with text writer Tim Rice, and this collaboration launched their successful career together in musicals. Their first project together, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," was written in 1968 and immediately received acclaim from viewers and critics.
The 1970s and 1980s were the real golden era of the musical performed by Andrew Lloyd. His works, such as "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1970), "Evita" (1976) and "Cats" (1981), became real hits and brought the composer world fame. "The Phantom of the Opera" (1986), one of his most famous and successful works, became the longest-running musical in Broadway history.
