Agatha Christie - Biography
Agatha Christie, born Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller, was born on 15 September 1890 in Torquay, Devon, UK. Her early years passed in an atmosphere of bourgeois comfort and literary interests. Starting to write stories from childhood, Christie soon found her niche in the genre of detective novels. After serving as a nurse during World War I, Christie publishes his first novel, The Mystery of the Veil, in 1920, introducing his famous detective Hercule Poirot to the world. Her books, including Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile and Ten Little Indians (now known by a different name), are distinguished by confusing plots, skillful manipulation of suspicion and skill in creating unexpected interchanges.
Christie also wrote under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott, under which she published several novels with a psychological bias. In addition to writing, she actively participated in the archaeological expeditions of her second husband, archaeologist Max Mallowan, which was also reflected in some of her works.
Agatha Christie passed away on January 12, 1976, leaving behind a rich legacy of more than 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, as well as a world record for the number of books sold, amounting to billions of copies. Her works have been translated into many languages and continue to be popular for many generations.
